When a part requires chrome dipping it needs to be fully stripped of the old chrome plating which is on it, we can not partly strip and chrome repair a section of a part as this would not work because the joint between the old and new plating will burn and will not result in a good finish.
Here at chromefix when we are preparing a part for Chrome Dipping whether it's a household part or a part for a Car we always polish the part to a mirror finish before the Chrome Plating process begins. When we are rechroming parts especially Car, Motorbike, Scooter and Boat parts we have a thorough Chrome finishing Process, we use two layers of copper followed by Nickel and Chrome, so we quad plate, we also allow enough time in the tanks to get enough plating layer on, this both gives the parts a deep chrome finish and durability against the elements when outdoors.
When we start the Chrome Repair process we start by disassembling all the parts if they have not been taken apart already, this is something we ask the customer to do before sending or bringing their parts in to our workshop. After this any paints, sealants and oils are cleaned off, now the parts are ready to be copper wire hung in the electric chrome stripping chemical tank to remove the original plating, the parts are left in the tank for a period of time until the original chrome plating is totally stripped off and we are down to the base metal.

We can plate on to all types of metal including Mild steel, Stainless Steel, Brass, Die cast and yes even Aluminium. We have a dedicated pre-treatment plant for Aluminium which enables us to achieve high quality plating on Aluminium. There are not many plating companies which can plate on Aluminium as it is often quite difficult to plate.
